Art Haggerton, 65, of Las Cruces passed away in his home Monday, Oct. 3. A teacher for over four decades, he leaves a life of encouraging students to embrace a love of language and theatre. Familiar to local audiences, Art produced, directed, and performed scores of theatrical productions around New Mexico. Preceded in death by his parents, H.B. and Loreatha “Dean” Haggerton, and by a sister, Utana Allen, he is survived by a younger sister, Louwana Curren, of Harrisonburg, VA; and two brothers, Butch Haggerton, of Alamogordo, and Roy Haggerton, of Carlsbad. Family members will receive guests, friends, and community members who are encouraged to share stories at a memorial on Sat., Oct. 8, from 2-4 p.m., at Las Cruces Community Theatre.
