One-Act Play Festival 2012

The Las Cruces Community Theatre is seeking submissions for the 2012 One Act Festival to be held March 8th thru the 11th. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 8:00 PM and Sunday performances begin at 2:00 PM.

The deadline for submissions will be January 10th. Submissions should be sent to

Patrick Payne
3040 Jennifer St
Las Cruces, NM 88005

Directors of plays chosen for the festival will be notified on January 24th.

Submitted plays should run no longer than 45 minutes. Props and set pieces should be minimal and fit in an offstage storage area no larger than 8 feet by 8 feet. No special lighting will be available except for a spotlight. The director will provide a spotlight operator if needed. The director will have access to the costume shop as well as any props and set pieces on LCCT premises. Other special props and set pieces will be supplied by the director. The stage will be bare and a black curtain will be upstage from the performing area. Each show must be able to set up in 5 minutes and take down in 5 minutes. LCCT will provide a small budget for purchase of some props and these props become the property of LCCT after the festival. LCCT will purchase scripts, pay royalties for performances and keep all proceeds from admission fees.

Submissions must include a copy of the play as well as a cover letter stating the director's name, contact information, title of the play, publisher of the play, number and gender of characters, royalties for the play and a brief synopsis of the play. Unusual costumes, props or set pieces not commonly found in the theatre's inventory must be listed if the director wishes LCCT to provide these items. However the acquisition of unusual items will ultimately be the responsibility of the director.

A director's meeting will be held in the theater at 6:00 PM February 5th and group auditions for all plays will be held at 7:00 PM after the meeting and 7:00 PM on the 6th. Directors will discuss casting, rehearsal schedules and theatre use after auditions on the 6th. The theatre will be available for rehearsals and construction of set pieces from February 20th thru March 7th.
