Rachel Space

Las Cruces Community Theatre is saddened to note the passing of Ms. Rachel Space, a valued and loved member of the Las Cruces theatre community, on Saturday, April 5.

At LCCT, Rachel played one of the gravediggers in Hamlet, and directed The Glass Menagerie. She was also very active at the Black Box Theatre, playing Louise in Always Patsy Cline (among many other roles), and directing Prelude to a Kiss. She was one of the founders of lo-fi productions. She is survived by her husband, Patrick Payne (another very familiar name to Las Cruces theatre-goers). The cast and crew of LCCT's next production, Barefoot in the Park, has voted to dedicate the production to Rachel.

There will be a memorial service for her at noon on Friday, April 11, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 225 West Griggs @ Alameda.

She was a good friend, and we will miss her.
